A Dark Chocolate Journey with John Stamos and Lindt EXCELLENCE
Lindt Chocolate and actor John Stamos teamed up in New York City to take special guests through a Lindt EXCELLENCE dark chocolate journey. John, alongside Lindt Master Chocolatier Ann Czaja, taught guests how to properly taste chocolate through the five senses and discussed three unique dark chocolate pairings, each more exciting than the last.
The three pairings each featured a different Lindt EXCELLENCE dark chocolate bar. The first was Lindt EXCELLENCE 70% paired with Earl Grey tea. The brisk base of Indian black tea and the scent of bergamot citrus in Earl Grey make for a zesty pairing with Lindt EXCELLENCE 70% dark chocolate. The high cocoa content chocolate offers just enough sweetness, along with notes of dried fruit and vanilla, to balance the tea’s intensity.
The second pairing was Lindt EXCELLENCE A Touch of Sea Salt with Aged Gouda. This surprising pairing was a favorite of the evening as it featured a sharp, yet sweet cheese, delivering an intense, almost caramel taste profile. Lindt EXCELLENCE A Touch of Sea Salt has the right amount of cocoa to compliment the cheese while the Fleur de Sel (hand harvested French sea salt) adds texture and enhances the flavor experience.
The final pairing was Lindt EXCELLENCE 85% with Sidamo Blend Coffee with a splash of milk. Ethopian Sidamo Beans pair wonderfully with the robust Lindt EXCELLENCE 85% dark chocolate. The bar’s aromas of dried fruit, tobacco, and earth are complemented by the subtle tanginess and chocolate undertones of the coffee. The intensity of the coffee enhances the cocoa experience, highlighting hints of vanilla in the dark chocolate.
An unexpected favorite of the evening was the Lindt EXCELLENCE A Touch of Sea Salt paired with the Aged Gouda, and guests commented on how all of the pairings were delicious. They were pleased to see how simple they would be able to replicate the tasting at home for family and friends and each left with a new sense of how to enjoy Lindt EXCELLENCE dark chocolate.
